Book Review: SOMETHING BORROWED by Emily Giffin

SOMETHING BORROWED by Emily Giffin focuses on Rachel, a 30-year-old single lawyer living in New York City. Rachel has always been the typical good girl until her thirtieth birthday, when her best friend, Darcy, throws her a party. 

There has been  a secret competition ever since their friendship started. Rachel only figured it out after the party , when Rachel and Dex spend the night together and had a one-night fling. This thing made Rachel realized that she has an uncontrollable feelings for her bestfriend's fiancĂ©.
To cut away the guilt  , Rachel takes turn justifying her actions by remembering all the past bad things that Darcy had done her and that is : being inconsiderate and is always taking advantage of her.
The two of them agreed to keep their one night a secret from Darcy, however, keeping it as a secret led them to do it regularly. It made them realized that they are  meant to be but does not have the right to be with each other legally. One is afraid of hurting her girlfriend of 7 years and one is afraid to hurt her childhood bestfriend. Both were hooked with guilt but can't stop their mind longing for each other. Rachel  longs for Dex to tell Darcy the truth . Until such time that Rachel can't bear it all and murmured: "talk to me  again unless it's to tell me that the wedding is off!".
